My teaching career was spent teaching Art and Design at Ancaster High School and Lincoln College of FE . My greatest pleasure was seeing A level students move on to study Art in Higher Education and to hear of their successes from time to time.Since retiring a couple of years ago I have been able to devote far more time to my own work. My studio is a small ex-Methodist chapel in Welton, six miles North of Lincoln . I also hold workshops and adult classes there as well as painting.
My inspiration is usually the natural world: the hills of my native Lancashire, the big skies and arable fields of Lincolnshire and exciting new experiences travelling abroad.
I work in sketchbooks and use a camera to collect information. The final pieces tend to be developed in oils, acrylic or mixed media. I also return quite regularly to Lincoln Cathedral for inspiration.Visitors to my studio are welcome-please just phone ahead.
